Love politics? Architecture? History? You should definitely visit the Austrian Parliament Building. Located on the Ringstraße in central Vienna, the building is where parliament has met since the time of emperor Franz Joseph.
One of the most imposing buildings on the Ringstraße, this Viennese architectural highlight was designed by Architect Baron Theophil Hansen in the Greek Revival style. On the outside, you'll see the Pallas Athena fountain, with the goddess Athena and statues on both sides symbolizing regions of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. There are hundreds of statues to admire outside the building. The building is beautiful to gaze upon in the light of morning and lit up at nighttime.
When you enter, you will be struck by the Hall of Pillars, with its 24 giant marble pillars and marble floor. Check out the Imperial House of Representatives, built like a 400-seat Greek theater. Don't miss the libraries, furniture, artwork, and much more. (Guided tour in the Austrian Parliament)
