What happens when you arrive?

The Wien-Schwechat Airport was built in 1938. It is the international airport of Vienna, the capital of Austria. The airport offers a whole host of European destinations as well as flights to Asia, North America, and Africa, handling tens of millions of passengers each year. The airport is made up four terminals and six concourses.

Arriving by air to Vienna

The CAT Train

When you arrive at the airport, you can hop on the City Airport Train (CAT) and you will be in the city center in just 16 non-stop minutes. You get dropped off at the City Airport Terminal, just a short walk from the St. Stephan’s Cathedral at Wien Mitte Station and numerous forms of transportation. The train is extremely calm and comfortable, runs 24 hours a day, and features free Wifi, all for just €12.00 in either direction or €21.00 round trip.

The S7 Train

Another very economical option for transport from the airport to the city center is the S7 line of the rapid transit railway (S-Bahn). For only €4.10 you can travel between the airport and the Wien Mitte station in just 25 minutes.  The train comes every 30 minutes, and has increased service during peak transport hours. This train is also part of a system that can take you all over the city and beyond as well.

Vienna Airport Bus

Also, for €8.00 you may use the Vienna Airport Lines bus services running around the clock. They can take you throughout the city to all of Vienna’s main transport hubs, including arrival in the city center in just 20 minutes. The bus lines offer several international options as well. 

Taxis

In addition, for increased convenience and flexibility, you might choose to use the airport’s taxi or limousine services, located directly in front of the arrivals hall or the “City Transfer” counter in the arrivals hall. The taxi service includes eco-friendly hybrid taxis. (For your safety, please do not use taxis from drivers who approach you in the arrivals hall.)  

Shuttle Service in Vienna Airport

Finally, there are several private Shuttle services to bring you directly to your hotel from the airport. Their vehicles are extremely comfortable, air conditioned, and the drivers are all English speakers. These services are arranged in advance, not shared with other passengers, greet you upon arrival, and reduce your wait time for transportation.
