In 1872, the Vienna Male Voice Choir financed the Schubert Statue (Schubert Denkmal), a memorial to the composer Franz Schubert to be placed in Stadtpark.
Carved by Karl Kundman, the musician sits above in a chair and holds a musical notation sheet and a pencil, waiting for his next glorious inspiration, while below are three deep reliefs depicting instrumental music, vocal music, and musical imagination. This fine piece of art is backed by an amazing line of trees and an amazing peace.
