Do you like to shop? If so, Mariahilfer Street (Mariahilferstraße) is the perfect place to visit. The street is Austria’s longest and most lively shopping street. Previously, Mariahilfer Strasse was called Kremser Strasse and Bayrische Landstrasse, among other names. Archaeologists have pointed to evidence that this street dates back all the way to the early Middle Ages!
Nearly every major brand can be found on Mariahilfer Street. While on the Street, take some time to explore the side streets, especially in the 6th and 7th districts, which is where many niche shops have been popping up.
Besides stores and outlets, Mariahilfer Street has plenty of cafes and restaurants. The street is a pedestrian hub with anywhere between 25 to 70 thousand people walking there every day.
