Planned by the Bavarian Electorate’s garden designer Dominique Girard, the Palace Gardens link the Lower and Upper Belvedere, with beautiful flowers, hedges and more.
The Kammergarten (Privy Garden) is secluded in the west of the Lower Belvedere. This garden is replete with sculptures, an aviary, fountains and more. The Alpine Garden is the oldest of its kind in Europe with a valuable historical collection of Alpine plants. Wonderful attractions include the rhododendrons, the variety of Sempervivum and the Japanese Bonsai.
Two magnificent palaces were built in Belvedere to be used as Prince Eugene of Savoy’s summer residence. The two palaces are connected by stunning baroque gardens. The Belvedere Palace Museum houses a valuable art collection from well-known artists such as Claude Monet, Gustav Klimt and Vincent van Gogh.
