Ringstrasse

Over Five kilometers of some of the Finest Architecture

Take a walk along Vienna's Ringstrasse, over five kilometers of some of the finest architecture you will ever witness! Emperor Franz Joseph ordered the building of the Ringstrasse in 1857, and many wealthy citizens rushed to build ostentatious palaces along this inimitable street, many of which can still be admired today in all their glory and variety.

However, these palaces are not the most interesting sites on the Ringstrasse. Many other buildings are architectural gems from several eras. You will be amazed when gazing upon the Vienna State Opera, the Parliament, City Hall, the Burgtheater, the university, the Museum for Applied Art, the Vienna Stock Exchange, and the Votive Church.

The highlights are the Museum of Fine Arts and the Natural History Museum. These buildings include incredible art and natural treasures, and they are also architectural masterpieces. The Ringstrasse showcases the artistry of master builders such as Theophil von Hansen, Karl Freiherr von Hasenauer, Gottfried Semper and others.
