A Photography and Camera Collection Haven - WestLicht is not your ordinary museum with regular historical artifacts. It is a museum of photography and cameras. One of the most important and popular permanent exhibits features unique and interesting cameras, such as ones affixed to carrier pigeons, toys, or umbrella handles, spy cameras and underwater cameras.
The WestLicht Vienna museum even houses one of the modified cameras carried on the Apollo space shuttle to take photographs in outer space. There are over 700 special devices and cameras to mesmerize excited visitors!
The museum features rotating photography exhibits throughout the year. However, the highlight of each year is the “World Press Photo" show, showcasing the best press pictures in the world. The museum also includes a library with free access to over 20,000 magazines and books, a bookshop and a bar.
Schauplatz für Fotografie is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and public holidays.
