For musical excellence and more, you'll want to take a trip to the Kursalon. This sublime music hall was designed by Johann Garben and built between 1865 and 1867. In 1857, Emperor Franz Josef I ordered the construction of the Ring Boulevard to expand the city. The Kursalon was where visitors would go to get mineral water to drink. But within a matter of years, Johann Strauss performed the Kursalon's first concert, and since then the venue became a place for concerts and meetings. Now the Kursalon has four ballrooms on two floors, a large terrace and a restaurant, with approximately 500 concerts a year and over 200,000 visitors.
Come enjoy an evening of classical Viennese music at the Kursalon concert hall, where the waltz was popularized in the 19th century. It is a unique and phenomenal opportunity to enjoy the classical masterpieces of Strauss, Mozart and other Viennese musicians.
Since the Kursalon first featured Johann Strauss’ compositions in 1868, waltzes have been a part of Viennese culture, and the Kursalon has become a central meeting place of Viennese society for the highest quality of music and entertainment. If you're fortunate enough to book a VIP ticket, your splendid music experience will be enjoyed from the first two rows, with a glass of sparkling wine and a complimentary Johann Strauss CD.
