Ostarrichi Park

Relax and Contemplate Vienna’s Complex History

The Ostarrichi Park (Ostarrichipark) is a lovely place to visit. The park is most well known for its vast and attractive lawn. There are benches and trees throughout the park making the park a grand place to rest or join in with a fun athletic activity. The park is extremely easy to access and it has a quiet, calm environment. This makes the park the ideal location for the Shoah Wall of Names Memorial. It is the perfect place of reverence in the City of Vienna, where visitors from all over the city and world can come and mourn and reflect upon the tragedies of the past.

The Ostarrichi Park is located right across from the University of Vienna Campus. Despite the fact that it is just minutes away from the Ring, and within extremely easy reach of the Subway and streetcars, in the surrounding areas of the park there isn’t much street traffic. Therefore, the area remains the quintessential solemn environment for visitors to the Memorial to sit and contemplate the many complex components of human behavior.

There are also many advantages of the park being located right next to the university. A younger generation of Austrians will walk past the memorial site daily. They will thus be compelled to stop and consider Austria's past and think about what they want for the country's future. The Memorial is bound to make a profound and striking impression on all visitors, which will increase the park's esteem to all who visit Austria.
